Ready to help,
when you need it!
Karen Fretz knows change is difficult. Everyone needs and deserves a support system to guide them through the change. As the owner of A Thoughtful Transition, she ensures that her clients and families are supported throughout the transition process.
Karen believes her work is as much about the emotional and mental aspects, as it is about the physical act of organizing and packing up a home. Moving is a journey for her clients that is often as much about sorting through a lifetime's worth of memories as it is about possessions.
Karen is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a member of the National Association of Senior & Specialty Move Managers (NASMM). She holds a degree in Graphic Design from Arcadia University. She spent 20 years in project management and 13 years in Healthcare IT.
A Thoughtful Transition was started as a result of Karen's experience managing her parents transition. Looking back, she realized how fortunate she was to have a strong and dedicated support system of family and friends to help her. After multiple health issues, her dad was no longer able to live at home and became a resident at an independent living community. Her mom was faced with the overwhelming and daunting task of downsizing the family home - 50 years of belongings and memories! This wasn't the retirement dream her parents envisioned and it quickly became their new reality. With the help of siblings, family and friends the move occurred over 6 months. Her mom was relieved to have the house sold, so she could focus on her husband's health and spending time with her grandchildren.
Karen understands the emotional, physical, and psychological aspects of moving. With patience and expertise, she guides clients through their move and the next chapter in their life.
